The Beads of Courage UK programme is most effective when received at point of care in hospital. If your child has a serious chronic or life-threatening condition and would like to join the programme, talk to the care team at your hospital to see if they are enrolled with us. If they aren’t and you would like to help fundraise for them, please send an email to john@beadsofcourageuk.org and we will be happy to help.

Who we are

Beads of Courage UK is a non-profit organisation that is committed to enhancing the well-being of children and adolescents facing significant health challenges, as well as supporting their families and the healthcare professionals who provide care. The beads give children a positive, tangible means to communicate with their peers about their journey whilst also opening up lines of communication surrounding the lack of knowledge of childhood cancers as well as other illnesses.

Our Member of the Month this month is Abigail Hedges.

In August 2023, life changed in a way no one could have imagined. At just four years old, Abigail began experiencing unexplained headaches and episodes of vomiting. What started as a worrying but seemingly isolated symptom quickly escalated. As her condition worsened, a visit to A&E led to an MRI—and the devastating discovery of a large mass in her brain.

Every parent dreams of watching their child grow up happy and healthy, but for Abbie's family, life took an unexpected turn when their son Archie was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer, hepatoblastoma, at just 15 months old...

Member of the Month February 2025

Our Members of the Month this month are Riley & Georgie Cochrane.

Riley faced her treatment with incredible strength, enduring each stage with a resilience that amazed those around her. Her family went from the freedom of daily routines to living between hospital stays and appointments, trying to adjust to this new reality. It was a difficult transition, but they held onto hope as she fought her battle. Just as they thought they could see a light at the end of the tunnel, with Riley having only a year left of maintenance treatment, their world was shattered again...
